It all started in the hot summer of 1885, when the inquisitive Emile Giffard, a pharmacist from the town of Angers, Loire Valley, France, investigated the refreshing properties of mint. He invented a refined transparent liqueur made of white mint, which he offered to distinguished guests from the Grand Hotel to relieve the heat. Success came immediately, and Emil transformed his pharmacy into production.
Today Giffard is in the hands of the same family in the fourth generation, and continues to hold the highest level of quality as the motto of its origin.
